The UK’s leading supplier of shelving and racking in Milton Keynes recently completed Phase 1 of their Powder Coating plant upgrade.
As a Key Supplier during the Covid 19 lockdown, the group continued to supply vital equipment to the NHS. Despite the ongoing pandemic during this period, TD Finishing completed the installation of phase 1. This consisted of a new upgraded pre-treatment, drying oven and conveyor systems. The installation had no unplanned production downtime. The system is capable of vertically processing components up to 4,200mm in length.
The new powder coating plant consisted of a stainless-steel pre-treatment, utilising high efficiency tube firing gas burner, plastic spray nozzle system and stainless-steel pumping facilities. This gives the capability to utilise low temperature phosphate free chemistry. Therefore, saving on both energy and water consumptions.
The drying oven was pre-installed off-line to eliminate any plant downtime and incorporated high efficiency modulating gas burners, a bespoke thermally insulated oven body and an air circulating system with an operating temperature 60 degrees below the previous system.
Pre Treatment Systems
This is the second pre-treatment upgrade project TD Finishing have completed for the group. The first being at one of their manufacturing facilities in the west midlands. The design stage of the phase 2 upgrade is now complete and is planned for installation during quarter 4 of 2020. During Phase two td finishing will install a new 60m curing oven, and complete further conveyor line upgrades.
Td finishing have installed many more phased projects in the last couple of years. Each one ensuring minimum disruption to our clients existing production.
